Lesson 1 of 5
Work Done and Kinetic Energy
Introduces the work done by a constant force, including a force at an angle, and kinetic energy, KE = ½mv². Students use the work–energy principle, including problems with friction and a force at an angle.
- AQA 7367
- MC1, MC3
- Edexcel 9FM0
- FM1 Work, energy and power

Lesson 2 of 5
GPE and Conservation of Mechanical Energy
Introduces gravitational potential energy as the work done against the weight, and the conservation of mechanical energy. Students find speeds on smooth slopes, curved tracks and pendulums and for projectiles, and relate the work done by other forces to changes in energy.
- AQA 7367
- MC1, MC2, MC3
- Edexcel 9FM0
- FM1 Work, energy and power

Lesson 3 of 5
Work against Resistance: the Energy Audit
Uses an energy audit (energy at the start, minus work done against resistance, equals energy at the end) to solve problems on rough slopes and curved paths. Students compare the energy method with Newton's second law and suvat, and learn when energy cannot answer a question.
- AQA 7367
- MC1, MC2, MC3
- Edexcel 9FM0
- FM1 Work, energy and power

Lesson 4 of 5
Power
Defines power as the rate of doing work, with P = Fv for a driving force. Students combine power with Newton's second law on level roads and slopes, find maximum speeds, and use the work done by an engine at constant power in an energy audit.
- AQA 7367
- MC7 (with MC1–MC3)
- Edexcel 9FM0
- FM1 2.1 Work, energy and power

Mixed review · Lesson 5 of 5
Unit review: Work, Energy and Power
Mixed exam-style practice across the whole Work, Energy and Power unit: the work–energy principle, conservation of mechanical energy, the energy audit and power. The focus is on choosing the right tool, and explaining that choice, before calculating.
- AQA 7367
- MC1, MC2, MC3, MC7
- Edexcel 9FM0
- FM1 2.1 Work, energy and power
